Biofuel companies among 81 signing climate change pledge

Companies across the United States, are signing on with their support for the American Business Act on Climate Pledge.

By late October, 81 companies including at least 11 with ties to the biofuel industry, had signed the pledge to demonstrate their support for action on climate change and the conclusion of a climate change agreement in Paris that will move forward strongly toward a low-carbon sustainable future, according to a White House press release.

Biofuel industry companies that signed the pledge include: Abengoa Bioenergy U.S., Aemetis, Cargill, DSM North America, Fulcrum Bioenergy, Novozymes, Pacific Ethanol, Poet, Schneider Electric, Siemens Corp. and Syngenta/Quad County Corn Processors. The biofuel companies and others who signed the pledge shows their continued commitment to climate action.

The pledge include goals that include reducing emissions by as much as 50 percent and water use by as much as 80 percent, and purchasing 100 percent renewable energy.
